In life it doesn’t matter how much or how little you have—you always have something to give! Yourself. Your heart. Your all.
At our ladies Bible study, one woman was sharing her story. It went something like this—
She was working in a war-torn country when a young child approached her to sell her something. This young woman had no money on her and told the child she would buy something the next day. The child then asked if she could look through photos on the lady’s phone with her. The lady gladly said yes, and promptly the two sat to look at photos together on the side of the street.
When the little girl told the woman her life story, it went something like this—she had no mother but had a dad. And her dad worked but they had very little money, so that was why she was on the streets selling clothing items—to help take care of her family.
Then the little girl asked the lady—“Please show me your family.”
And the lady replied, “I don’t have any photos of my parents, because they have both passed away.”
The little girl, with eyes wide and all sincerity said, “Oh—then I shouldn’t be selling these scarves to you—you should be selling them to me. At least I have a dad!”
Dear Friends, Just like this little girl realized—we all have something to give! Although she came from poverty, she had a dad!
No matter where you are or what your circumstance is in life, you have something you can give…You can give your time, your efforts, your talents, and your heart!
And when you give that, you have truly given your all!
Serve Sunday—Don’t go to church—Be the Church is about being the hands and feet of Jesus. Jesus is not a denomination—although too many of us try to make him fit into our church building. Jesus is the Savior of the hearts of people.
PIC spent an entire Sunday, in the sweltering sun and humid rooms and scorching outdoors, painting, cleaning, planting, and preparing an old army barrack to be an oasis for the homeless and poor that grace its doors for food, for clothing, for shelter, and for love.
Thank you, PIC, for giving your all on Don’t Go to Church Be the Church Serve Sunday!
