One Sunday, a long time ago, there was a man that came to Poznan International Church simply to learn English. It wasn’t a problem. At the time, he was a practicing Buddhist.
No matter what he practiced, he loved church. He came weekly—and even began going to the train station with Pastor Rich and his wife Brooke as they served the homeless daily in Poznan and Gniezno.
Tomek, the practicing Buddhist, translated every time Brooke or Rich shared with the homeless, “We are here because God loves you…”
This went on for months upon end until one day Tomek declared, “Salvation is great!”
Brooke and Rich were stunned…What was he saying? He didn’t believe, did he?
It turned out, as Tomek spoke with friends, served the homeless, came to church, and began to read the Bible, he learned more the amazing gift of salvation and the sacrifice of Jesus!
Tomek was the first man that Pastor Rich baptized in Poland…
And over a decade later, we are thrilled to share that Tomek went on to return to his hometown, the oldest city in Poland, Kalisz, and is the pastor of the local Baptist church, and leads the city in helping rescue the forgotten through Bread of Life Ministries (Fundacja Bread of Life).
On top of that, we, Poznan International Church, have now partnered with Tomek and his church and have taken the English language with us—because you never know what Tomek may just show up one day in Kalisz, simply looking to simply speak English!
20Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, 21to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21
